A New Era
Good morning. Welcome to my first podcast. I hope that you will provide plenty of feedback, about the production values if nothing else.
There is still a lot to learn, let me tell you.
¶ A New Look at the Cloisters.
UPDATE: Many, many thanks for the kind comments. When I tried to re-record the page at a higher volume, a host of bugs gummed up the works. I have been more or less tearing my hair out for the past twenty-four hours (with breaks for sleep and martinis), but at the moment, progress looks good. I'm aiming to have mastered podcasting by the end of August, when I'll be inaugurating the new Daily Blague.

Yes, the volume needs to be adjusted when recording or a different microphone.
That being said, your voice was made for audio! Smooth and warm. It is nice to know your words are just as interesting whether written or spoken.

I concur. Wonderful voice. But I'm struggling to hear it. More volume, please – don't be shy!

I've been waiting for this but it looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer, my mobile broadband card is running at the blinding data rate of 83Kbps out here in the woods of Southeast Mississippi. My other DB contacts say it is wonderful, I can't wait to hear it for myself

Voice schmoice. It is what you do with that magnificent instrument of yours that hums with vitality and vividness. Reading gives me a photo album of images; listening, a film short. I followed you all around The Cloisters in a continuous visual loop, feeling your stroll as I saw the images and considered the reflections you proferred. This will set the DB free into outer space: iPods, cars, computer speakers. I can't wait to see where you go with this. Your old radio days in Houston are hooking up to the future. Who wudda thunk it? Congratulations on a wonderful product. Don't worry, the technology will catch up with you!

Alas and alack, we have no sound cards in our computers at work and I have resisted buying a home computer, ergo I cannot play your podcast. I will have to check it out at FD's place. This inability to hear on-line may be the impetous for me to bring the new magic box into my home.

Wonderful RJ! You have a perfect voice for this. Perhaps you have a new career ahead of you doing voice overs for documentaries! Really my friend, as much as I enjoyed reading the piece, hearing you narrate added a whole new layer to an already lovely piece. I have to go there now. I find it hard to believe, but I've never actually made it to the Cloisters.
