Through the roof
To any of you who visited this site yesterday (or today) on Joe Jervis's recommendation, a hearty thanks. No matter how brief your visit, it pushed my blog stats through the roof. As of right now, I've had more than half of last week's hits within a twenty-four hour period. And, from now on, I have two anniversaries to celebrate on the same day.
It was strange timing. Shortly after I'd posted my anniversary entry, showing Kathleen and myself tripping down the steps at St Thomas More, I got curious about the traffic and checked my referrals. Everyone was coming from Joe.My.God. What a laugh! In an earlier post yesterday, I'd written that
I know that, if and when this blog ever takes off - and it very well may never take off, but just inch its way up, capturing one permanent new reader for every hundred visitors (I'm being optimistic) - that I'll have luck to thank. That the right person will have visited on the right day and been in a position to tell all the right people. My job is to prepare for that visit every day without expecting it.
Well, even though Joe sent me a heads-up in the morning, I didn't expect what happened to happen.
And I'm not counting on it to happen again. But if you will take a moment to tell me what you thought, I'll be very grateful. Comment, anonymously if you like, or write to me.

Well, I did come over from Joe's blog, but you are entertaining too. I think I'll hang about a bit and see what's goin on.

I like your blog. I did come from Joe's site but I too think I will hang around and settle in for a good read. A quick note, the thing that jumped out of the page and grabbed me was this: "That the right person will have visited on the right day and been in a position to tell all the right people. My job is to prepare for that visit every day without expecting it." It just seemed so earnest, tidy and unexpected. Almost old fashioned, if that's the right word? Keep up the good blogging, I am glad that you hit a milestone in site "hits." Take care.

I'm another Joe referral and found your site so interesting and entertaining that you're on my daily must read list now. I'm even more interested by the fact that you apparently live on the same corner as my ex-sister-in-law (don't ask) and may even live in the same building. Since my ex and I were together for 15 years, I went there often and so I'm even more interested than the average person might be in your commentary about the area.

I"m another referral from Joe and I too, will hang around. I find you erudite, charming and a breath of fresh air. You write like an old friend who gives me news of a city and things that I visit not enough nor hear too much of. Thank you for blogging...
