Nostalgia
While everybody else was laughing or jeering, I was fretting. I had an awful feeling that we'd miss Harriet Miers. She seemed so preposterous as a nominee; now, with "Scalito" up for the seat, who - aside from the crabby quarter of the nation that wants to erase civil rights - who does not wish that we could bring the toady back?

I just miss Rachel Dratch as Harriet Miers on SNL.

I knew this would happen and was never sure what all the giddiness over Miers stepping down was about - duh, now we will be getting someone even worse, most likely, and yet another white man as well. Yippee, yahooey.
Well time to start searching for the Alito parody blog now I suppose...

Will we ever learn? Anyone whom the Ultra Right Conservatives disapprove of must be OK. Sure, Harriet would have been a lightweight joke in the august halls and deliberation chambers of the Supreme Court, but look at the alternative. Personally, I would rather have a cipher on the bench than Satan's next door neighbor.
It is interesting to note that with Alito, I believe the bench would have five Catholics out of a total of nine justices, an odd demographic representation for the United States, though I am sure JFK would not be proud.
