Fun's Over
Happiness is... never having taken Harriet Miers to be a serious nominee for the Supreme Court. Never having gotten worked up about her inadequacies. Never having quite tuned in.
Happiness is not... wondering who the serious contender, whether in the running all along or settled on during the Miers silliness, might be. There are plenty of badass women on the District Court bench, and whichever one Team Dubya chooses, she'll be ridiculously more qualified than the president's toady.

Let's just hope that all of them can be successfully parodied by the ladies of Saturday Night Live. Adieu, Rachel Dratch as Harriet Miers!

I'm with you, Ms. It was almost worth having her around to get to laugh at Dratch's hilarious sendup. Bill Maher did a funny number at Meirs's expense as well. I believe it was Maher who implied that the hidden reason the conservative right didn't want Harriet was that they believe she is a lesbian. It's the only explanation I've heard that makes any sense (albeit wacky sense, and although I could hardly care if it were true.) Personally, I'm just grateful that we won't have to look at her mug for 20 years.

I really feel embarassed sad for our culture that the media can do such a hatchet job on a citizen. when a gibbon offshot writes the decline and fall of the american culture they will begin with. First came the lawyers then the anchors who have no sense of conscience or responsiblity. bye bye Harriet, maybe we will get a justice we deserve. montana cowboy
